How long are the sessions?

A session contains 30 patient contacts, which generally takes about 3-4 hours to complete.

What time would I start?

Start times are flexible, as long as we are aware of an approximate time to inform the practices and you finish at a reasonable time.

Where will I work from?

We provide GPs with a secure laptop and phone so as long as you have access to internet you can work wherever you want.

Would I be paid by the surgery directly?

No, GP Hub will pay you a set fee per session. Invoices need to be sent over at the end of each month. For further information about payments please contact us.

Do we have the patients' notes?

You would have full access to the practices' systems, patients' notes, hospital letters etc., exactly as you would if you were in the practice.

What if any of the patients need to see someone face-to-face?

Our GPs are able to book in directly with GPs for "urgent" appointments on the same day. Otherwise, a message is left with the reception staff informing them that a patient needs to be seen by a GP/nurse practitioner/healthcare assistant soon.

What about prescriptions and fitnotes?

The GPs create the prescriptions etc., save them to the system, the reception staff then prints them and they're signed in the surgery.

What if I need to make a referral?

Referral letters can be typed up on the system in the notes and the reception staff in the practice sends them on.

What if the patients don't answer?

If patients don't answer on the first attempt, try twice more at equally spaced intervals (e.g. twenty minutes apart) in your remaining session time.

Are you looking for a regular commitment or ad-hoc work?

Both! A lot of GPs work regular sessions with us but we frequently send out extra sessions for other GPs to fill in.

Will it affect my indemnity?

No. It's recognised as a normal locum session, as it's strictly in-hours with full access to notes etc.
